About Aletria

Founded in 2009, Aletria is a Brazilian independent publisher with a diverse catalog spanning children's, young adult, and adult literature, featuring both Brazilian and international authors and illustrators. We have a presence throughout Brazil.

The Aletria Group also includes two additional imprints: Alegriô Edições, dedicated to celebrating, promoting, and publishing Indigenous, African, and Afro-Brazilian literature, and Alebebê, aimed at children from birth to age three.

Our titles have been translated for publication in several countries, including China, Spain, Argentina, Sweden, Canada, and South Korea. In 2025, Cosmonauta (published in Sweden as Stjärnseglaren by Bokförlaget Trasten) was a finalist for the Peter Pan Prize, awarded by IBBY Sweden. Our catalog has also been recognized by the White Ravens selection, from Bichos (2009) to Sebastião (2024). Our illustrators are celebrated both in Brazil and abroad, among them Guilherme Karsten, Anabella Lopez, and Nelson Cruz.

Interested in publishing our books? We're supported by Fundação Biblioteca Nacional (FBN) for translations abroad and, for select illustrated titles, by the Institut Ramon Llull in Spain.

We publish because we believe in the boundless power of creative imagination and the literary repertoires we carry with us throughout life. We publish because we believe nothing rivals the power of a book in the life of those who hold this cultural treasure in their hands. A child who plays, listens to stories, and has access to books experiences an exchange of affection and connection, an eye-to-eye bond essential to their physical, psychological, and intellectual development.
